How to Repair or Reinstall the Microsoft Photos app

Sarah Jacobson 6 min read

The Microsoft Photos app is a free app for Windows 10 that lets you view, edit, and share your photos. It’s also the default photo app on Windows 10. If you need to reinstall or repair the app, here are some steps you can follow.

The reinstall photos app windows 10 without store is a solution to the problem of how to repair or reinstall the Microsoft Photos app.

Since its debut, Microsoft’s Photos app in Windows 10 has been known for being sluggish and unstable. It is the default Photo viewer software for Windows 10 PCs and comes pre-installed.

Microsoft Photos, unlike the Photo Viewer program on earlier Windows operating systems, offers a wide range of sophisticated capabilities. Artificial intelligence allows it to identify people, objects, and things, as well as auto-tag pictures. It also has rudimentary picture editing capabilities, as well as the ability to access and edit video files inside the program.

All of these capabilities, however, make it a little sluggish and prone to glitches and mistakes, particularly on machines with limited resources. It would sometimes fail to open pictures or launch at all. You have the option of fixing, restarting, or reinstalling the app in these circumstances.

If your Pictures app isn’t functioning as it should, is crashing often, or fails to launch or access photos, you may try one of the techniques listed below to solve the problem.

Using the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, you can resolve the issue.

The Troubleshooter in Windows 10 works in the background, automatically repairing damaged files and enabling essential settings on your computer. It also enables manual troubleshooting in cases when your applications or settings aren’t functioning properly.

If the Photos app isn’t functioning properly, you may use the Windows Store app troubleshooter to repair it.

To start the troubleshooter, hit Windows + R and then enter the following command into the Run dialog box.

ms-settings:troubleshoot

Open the Windows File Explorer to restore the default Libraries ( This PC ). Restore default libraries by right-clicking Libraries in the left sidebar.
