Remove Bluetooth Phone Connection in Car

Sarah Jacobson 3 min read

Did you ever have a bluetooth problem in your vehicle, and would like to remove the phone connection from your car? I have a 2010 Ford Fusion, and my bluetooth was not working properly. I had a hard time making calls because it would drop the call after a few seconds of talking. My buddy told me that he just removed his bluetooth phone connection from his car, and its working great!

I wanted to get rid of the bluetooth connectivity in my car. I figured that if it drained my battery then why not remove it. My friend showed me how he did it by removing the wires found under your steering wheel.

In case you have a problem with your bluetooth connectivity in the car, and want to remove it for good. Here is how to do it:

1. Turn off all of your car’s lights( headlights, parking lights, ect.) while the engine is still running. This will drain all of the electrical systems in your car so your battery doesn’t die when you disconnect it.

2. Get on the floor under your steering wheel, and look up at the underside of your steering wheel. You will see a small black box with a bunch of wires coming out of it that is connected to a fuse box by a thin wire. The black box with wires is your car’s computer.

3. Find the thin wire connected to the fuse box, and use a small screwdriver or knife to cut it near where it is connected. After you do this, all of the circuits in your car should be disconnected so no power will get to them anymore. Now you can put the key in the ignition to turn it on without having any electrical problems, or getting electrocuted because there are no more power running through your car.

What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a technology used for wireless communication between devices over short distances. For example, bluetooth is used to connect a bluetooth headset to a smart phone so you can talk on the phone wirelessly. Bluetooth was created by telecom vendor Ericsson in 1994.  It works using radio frequencies which have been assigned frequencies from 2400-2480mhz.
