Sarah Jacobson The first trailer has arrived for the upcoming Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a live-action series from Jon Favreau that follows Boba Fett’s adventures after Return of the Jedi. So far it looks like it will be Disney+’s Game of Thrones to beat, with plenty of nods to familiar faces and settings from around the galaxy.
Fans of the Star Wars universe are excited to welcome the bounty hunter back into their lives with a new animated series. So, what does this mean for Disney’s upcoming streaming service? Will it be worth subscribing?The first teaser trailer for Disney’s forthcoming Star Wars: The Mandalorian has arrived, and it is everything we could have hoped for. Featuring a bounty hunter character in Boba Fett garb riding what appears to be an AT-ST not dissimilar from the one he rode into battle on during Return of the Jedi. It also includes another familiar face from that era – Obi Wan Kenobi, who may or may not share his lightsaber with Captain Phasma.

Legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigate the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate in The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian.”

Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen feature in The Book of Boba Fett. Executive producers include Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck co-executive produce, with John Bartnicki producing and John Hampian co-producing.
Ming-Na Wen has said that there would be some parallels between The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian. “Tonally, you know, Mando is a loner save for his friendship with Grogu, so it’s simply the dynamic that Boba and Fennec have formed a partnership. That, I believe, already gives the program a distinct character. That’s about all I have to say about the subject.”
Wen hinted what was to come in a separate interview with Collider, stating, “I get to collaborate with Temuera [Morrison], whom I admire. He’s the most endearing, talented, and amusing person I’ve ever met. Despite this, I like our chemistry since he is serious in certain aspects and I am the geek and nerd. When I first get on set, I go insane for five minutes, looking at everything, touching everything, asking the crew or props people questions, and trying to take stuff from the set. ‘Ahhh!’ I’m just thinking. Then Tem is the one who says, ‘Ming, let’s go to work.’ As a result, I relish the opportunity to collaborate with him, as well as Robert Rodriguez.”
