Pokemon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokemon franchise, the game is based on the Nintendo’s Pokemon video game series and was released worldwide in July 2016. The game uses location data to map out where pokemon would be found in real life. It then allows players to capture, battle, and train pokemon who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player.
BACKGROUND
The game was released to mixed evaluations; critics praised the game’s concept and the encouragement of exercise, but criticized frequent technical problems. Despite such evaluations, it quickly became a global phenomenon and one of the most used smart device apps after launching, with an estimated 750 million active players by October 2019. It is credited with popularizing AR technology and bringing it into the mainstream.
The game is free-to-play, although it supports in-app purchases of extra gameplay items. An optional companion Bluetooth wearable device, the Pokemon Go Plus, is designed to aid players by alerting them when pokemon are nearby and allowing them to catch pokemon without looking at their smart device.
Since its release, Pokemon Go has been the subject of various controversies, including claims that it invaded players’ privacy, was a public nuisance, caused accidents, and was a threat to child safety.
POKEMON GO RELEASED WORLDWIDE
Pokemon Go was released on July 6, 2016, in selected countries including Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. The game gradually received releases in other regions such as Europe, Asia, and South America. By September 2016, Pokemon Go was released in most parts of the world.
MISSING POKEMON FROM EACH REGION
One of the key features of Pokemon Go is that certain pokemon are exclusive to certain regions of the world. This encourages players to travel in order to catch them all. Below is a list of missing pokemon from each region:
North America: Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, Tauros
Europe: Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Tauros
Asia: Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Tauros
South America: Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Tauros

Pokemon go not showing pokemon
As most of you know, Pokemon GO was released today. I have been playing for a little while and noticed that some of the rarer pokemon are not available in my region. This is to be expected as certain pokemon are only found in specific regions in the game. For example, Tauros is only found in North America while Mr. Mime is found in Europe.
However, there are some pokemon that are completely missing from certain regions. For example, Kangaskhan is not found in North America at all. Similarly, Farfetch’d is not found in Europe. I compiled a list of all the rare pokemon and which regions they are or are not available in. Hopefully this will help you if you are looking for a specific pokemon!
