The two composers discuss the process of creating music for a massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell are two composers who have worked on the score for the MMORPG World of Warcraft. They discuss their experience working on the game, as well as what it was like to work with Blizzard.
Someone go get Justin, our resident Battle Bard and Jukebox Hero: Amazon has just released a slew of music-related goods in advance of the New World’s debut next week.
“We got an incredibly favorable reaction to the immersive sound effects and lovely music that those players encountered on their travels after they went across the country of Aeternum in our Alpha and Beta tests,” the studio adds. “Every sound in New World tells a narrative, from the loud snap of musket fire across the battlefield to the forestine echoes as players fall trees to the music that heightens epic moments or calms the player on a lengthy trip through the plains, woods, and mountains of Aeternum.”
The studio has released a new interview with the game’s composers, Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell (both of Game of Thrones and Westworld renown), in which they explain how the game’s music and sound interact with the game.
“What we found fascinating about this game was that it was a clean slate – we had to start from the beginning,” Djawadi adds. “Obviously, that’s a difficulty at the same time. But that’s what makes it exciting.”
The interview is embedded here, and the music can be purchased on Amazon.
