To use the “@” symbol on Twitter, simply type it before the username of the person or organization you wish to mention. For example, if you wanted to mention the account for the National Weather Service, you would type “@NWS.” If you’re replying to a specific tweet, you can also hit the “reply” button on the tweet and the “@” symbol and the username will appear in the tweet composer for you.

If you’re not sure of the exact spelling or handle of the account you want to mention, this can be a helpful way to find the right one.
