If you are like me, Do not disturb (DND) is very helpful on iPhone. It allows you to be away from people’s frustrating calls who call you during an important time of yours; however some times DND doesn’t go the way it should. A good example is when your alarm rings and your phone starts ringing with that annoying alarm sound (which can’t be turned off) and you miss the morning meetings.
So one of your friends suggests to create a scheduled downtime with an end time which is later than your alarm time. Hence, when you wake up DND automatically comes back on and you get notified about all the calls and messages missed during your sleep (For this go to Settings->Notifications->Do not disturb).
why is my do not disturb not working?
This happens because of a bug in IOS 11 where even though you have set up a Scheduled downtime, it doesn’t change your alarms volume to silent just for that day. Therefore, when you wake up and notice that your phone automatically starts ringing; then the only way to get rid of this issue is by manually enabling DND. So if your alarm time is 9.00 am for 10 minutes long and your scheduled downtime ends at 9.07am, you have set it up correctly but when you wake up in the morning your phone’s alarms are still ringing even though DND is enabled.
Note: This issue is only seen with alarms set for a day, i.e. if you create an alarm for just one hour then this issue doesn’t arise.

Go to Settings and scroll down until you see Do Not Disturb options
Options on do not disturb. When you enable DND, your phone will go silent (no sound/vibrate) and no one can call or message you until the scheduled downtime is over. Also, you won’t receive any notifications during this time including banners, sounds or vibrations; therefore if there is an important notification even though it’s not shown the normal way you will be notified by a text message after the downtime.
Conclusion
The best way to fix this is by checking with Apple if there are any updates available. For now, the only solution for this issue is to manually enable DND when you go to bed. Until an update comes out which will fix this bug, enjoy your sleep without being woken up in the middle of it.
