The Los Angeles Clippers are in the midst of a rebuild and have been shopping DeAndre Jordan since last season. Here are three teams that could use his services.
With the recent news that DeAndre Jordan is considering leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, three teams that should pursue a trade for him this offseason are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
DeAndre Jordan has been dropped from the Brooklyn Nets’ rotation after playing a key role for the team over the last several seasons. Jordan seems to no longer fit into the Nets’ future plans, despite the fact that the coaching staff and roster have already changed in the past year and a half. Jordan is a proven player at the center position who may need a change of scenery as a previous All-Star, three-time All-NBA Team member, and two-time All-Defensive Team pick.
Jordan, who has tremendous size, strength, and a high IQ defensive presence, still has enough left in the tank and would be a good fit for a competing club looking for a veteran center with playoff experience.
After that, let’s take a look at the three NBA clubs that should seek a DeAndre Jordan trade this summer.
Knicks of New York
The Knicks could use another center on the roster to help strengthen their frontline, with Nerlens Noel scheduled to be a free agency this summer and unlikely to return. Behind Mitchell Robinson and Taj Gibson, Jordan, who appeared in 19 games for the Knicks last season, would provide the club a dangerous big man rotation. Jordan’s return provides the Knicks with much-needed rim protection and rebounding assistance.
After all, there are few better center slot options than a two-time rebounding champion and an incredible blocking monster to assist with this. Outside of Gibson and Derrick Rose, Jordan would be a terrific experienced presence who could help usher in a new era of winning basketball in New York. Trading Michael Jordan would be a fantastic start for the Knicks if they want to build on last season’s comeback.
The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los
Now that the Lakers are seeking to overhaul their roster, they have a number of issues to address this summer. Adding a seasoned center who is an exceptional defender and can finish hard at the rim is one of those requirements. DeAndre Jordan’s addition would strengthen the Lakers’ frontcourt and provide them with another aggressive rebounder who can obstruct passing lanes.
The Lakers would have an unlimited amount of shot-blocking and an outstanding defensive triumvirate in Jordan, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis, giving the club frontcourt depth. Jordan’s acquisition would also provide the Lakers with a battle-tested player who might contribute significantly off the bench during their playoff drive next season.
Celtics of Boston
The Celtics’ lack of size has been a deadly flaw for the last several seasons. They’ll need another dependable center in the rotation to assist Tristan Thompson and Robert Williams now that Daniel Theis is out. Jordan may also provide the Celtics with another dependable veteran to complement Al Horford’s comeback. bringing a tremendous combination of rebounding, inside defense, and leadership to the squad
DeAndre Jordan would give the Celtics a fresh look and provide them with another enforcer outside of Thompson and Marcus Smart now that Brad Stevens has transitioned to the front office and Ime Udoka is calling plays from the bench. This is a deal the Celtics should look at this summer if they want to return to the top of the Eastern Conference next season.
